What

Our run is based on the oldest race in Houston, Texas, which has been going for over 55 years. For the download generation here is a short explanation of the format, which to be honest doesn’t clarify much but hopefully you get the picture.
When the music starts, you have 33⅓ minutes to run as many laps of the track as you can (33⅓ revolutions per minute being the speed of a 12” Long Play vinyl record). The music is selected by the entrants, making a unique soundtrack for each LP Run.

    • Chance to run on the stunning new purple track at Meadowmill with (one of) the friendliest running clubs in Scotland.
    • Everyone starts and finishes at the same time, so you can run or walk at your own pace and not worry about missing out on the prize giving: furthest run male and female, and other random spot prizes such as age closest to 33⅓ years.
    • Count your laps by collecting elastic bands from our cheering volunteers.
    • Distance measured based on number of elastic bands with your partial last lap measured by trundle wheel while you get to sit down and rest.
    • Supporting Charity. We’ve had a range of charities over the years, but for 2026 our chosen charity is The Junction and all profits from the event and donations on the day will go towards their activities. The Junction are an award-winning charity in North East Edinburgh that supports and improves young people’s health and wellbeing. They provide a safe, trusted space where young people can talk, be heard, and build the skills they need to thrive. See their Instagram page for further information.
    • Edible biscuit medal. No room on your wall to hang more medals? Worried about unwanted medals ending up in landfill? This medal is the treat you get to eat.
    • If you have good quality unwanted kit that’s looking for a new lease on life you can bring it along to the Kit Swap. Any desired pieces of kit can be claimed in return for a donation to this year’s charity. Any unwanted items at the end of the event will be donated or sorted for recycling. A pair of trainers that didn’t work for you, a race vest that didn’t fit right, those tights that turned out to be 3/4 length… You get the picture. Must be in good condition, and CLEAN! Please wash all kit and shoes before the race weekend!
    • Option to buy the year’s Iconic LP Run T-shirt.
    • Option to wear fancy dress. The word on the street is that there will be prizes.
    • Option to bring along some baking and aim to win a Star Baker apron.
    • .Finish off with tea, coffee and cakes after the judging has completed.
    • Don’t like the idea of running round a track? How about volunteering to help the event run smoothly?

The Iconic LP Run T-shirt

Member’s of the club will have seen (or worn) various incarnations of the ERN LP Run T-shirt based on the same record player logo and in that year’s chosen colour. This year’s grey colour is already on view by the LP Run volunteers who get first dibs on the T-shirt to advertise the event at club sessions and parkrun.

Let’s Bake…

The Baking entries will be a sight to see and a tasty morsel or two (or three) to eat after judging is complete and Star Baker aprons awarded.

Here’s a gallery of previous cakes to give you some inspiration and whet your appetite for the day.
